BTA consultants use a 7-step process to design benefit programs for our clients:

Step 1: Information Gathering

BTA's goal is to offer you the best possible fact-based advice on benefit plan design, financing, administration, communication, and compliance issues. In order to achieve this goal, we listen and learn from you about:

  • your products, services, customers
  • the demographic make-up of your work force
  • the details of your current benefit plan; what works, what doesn't
  • benefits expectations from your employees
  • your financial objectives and goals for the short- and long-term
  • your human resources objectives and goals for the short- and long-term
  • your corporate culture
  • your tolerance for risk
  • the role your benefits play in recruiting and retaining talent
  • your administrative and decision-making processes

Step 2: Analysis of Current Plans

Next, we conduct a thorough analysis of your current plans including:

  • plan provisions
  • limitations and exclusions
  • funding arrangements
  • claims history
  • plan expenses
  • contribution methodology
  • cost containment features
  • provider networks
  • employee eligibility
  • enrollment and plan participation
  • employee communications
  • plan administration
  • compliance

At this stage, we combine the results of the analysis along with information gained from our initial meeting with you to:

  • identify areas of concern and opportunity
  • propose alternatives
  • discuss implications

Step 3: Benefits Marketing

Should competitive marketplace analysis become necessary at this point, we will send out requests for proposals to various carriers and vendors. BTA presents you to the marketplace in a thorough, concise, and professional manner that enhances our ability to obtain accurate proposals in a timely manner.

BTA's excellent relationships with insurance carriers and vendors guarantee that you will receive the competitive attention you deserve.

Step 4: Evaluation

Upon receiving information back from the marketplace, BTA thoroughly analyzes each proposal from every carrier that bid for your business to identify the most competitive and comprehensive solutions. In doing so, consideration is given to:

  • the richness and comprehensive nature of the proposed benefits
  • cost factors
  • your company's goals, objectives, and expectations
  • your employees' expectations
  • administrative requirements
  • provider network availability
  • employee communications

We then illustrate a variety of employer/employee cost-sharing methodologies and examine the impact of potential change for each scenario.

Step 5: Implementation

We believe this to be one of the most critical phases of the benefit plan design process. The best designed benefit plan will not produce employee satisfaction if it is not communicated and implemented properly.

To promote an accurate, thorough understanding and appreciation of the benefit plans you are offering to your employees, BTA:

  • provides customized communication materials
  • prepares employee election forms and presentations
  • facilitates employee meetings
  • provides a web-based resource for your employee benefits information
